'Simpsons' Leaps to Big Screen Success
by Brandon Gray
July 29, 2007

Cashing in on 18 years of pop cultural prominence, The Simpsons Movie drew a stellar estimated $71.9 million on approximately 5,500 screens at 3,922 theaters over the weekend. The $75 million animated feature helped propel the weekend to the highest attendance on record for the final frame of July.

Good for them.

Good for us.

And even though this cartoon was hand drawn, I'll bet the characters were still more three dimensional than anything you'd see in "No Reservations."

Or anything you'd see on "Fairly Oddparents"!

That actually cuts against the whole "Yay, a 2D hit!" thing I was going for, but I get your point.

You'll excuse me if the anonymous barb doesn't really hurt me, won't you?

You're excused. And after all, what do you care? The damage is done and you're working for another network now.

But otherwise...yeah, yay, a 2D hit!

To the anonymous poster:

I'm not in animation and don't know anyone working there, so this might be none of my business. That said... What's with the anonymous attacks? Steve Marmel peed on your tricycle when you were five?

You should consider adding your name to your posts. That would make you slightly more credible.

yay

I just ran into this blog and I was reading it thinking, "Wow, a blog for animation writers. What a great place to come and talk with like minded individuals." Alas, it seems that everyone has died.

Is this blog still funct?

stick a fork in it. See Eddie Fitzgerald's blog instead.

Unlike John K., in my experience Eddie is a decent human being. It saddens me to see him pick up the writer hatin' business from John.

Not to mention his criticisms, like John's seem to come from a time warp.
